“Helping Hands” is operated through the volunteer efforts of members of St. Martin Lutheran Church of Birch Run. Helping Hands’ Mission is to help people within a 15-mile radius of Birch Run, to provide a “hand up” to those who are experiencing short term difficulties. The most common needs are propane, Consumers Energy, rent, clothing and food assistance. Individuals were also assisted with temporary hotel accommodations, emergency clothing, Christmas presents and food assistance. In addition, Helping Hands directs St. Martin Lutheran Church in the disbursement of food from our Church Food Pantry.
